Summary: Daybreakers is set in 2019 when vampires make up 95% of the population. Of course, with so few humans remaining, vampires are quickly running out of their main food source. Action and gore ensues.
The good: Finally, a vampire movie with something resembling an original and viable concept! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not down with this whole vampire fad.. it’s worse than the pirate fad. However, with so many movies out there that are remakes or just rip offs of previously good films, I can appreciate something different even if it wasn’t anything spectacular. Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed Daybreakers.. that may have something to do with the fact that I walked into it expecting it to blow, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Decent acting, interesting concept, gore – not bad.
The bad: Like I said, it was enjoyable, but that was basically all there was to it. The concept is fairly original, but the characters lacked depth and the chase scenes we’re unimaginative. It’s worth watching, but it won’t end up being one of your favorites.
My rating: 6.5/10
