Summary: A super villain takes on more than he bargains for when he adopts three orphans to help him with his latest scheme.
The Good: I’ve been pretty pumped about this movie for awhile. Yeah, it’s just an animated kids movie, but look at that cast! Not one that I don’t love. Steve Carell did a fantastic job as Gru, and who knew Russell could sound like a old, ugly dude? Really, the voice acting overall was really impressive.. of course, I am a little partial to this cast.
Those little girls are ADORABLE! Man, when Agnus yelled, “IT’S SO FLUFFY!”, it was so cute I wanted to barf. Gru and his minions are hilarious and keep the film upbeat throughout. Also, if you can afford it, I suggest you see it in 3D if only for the roller coaster scene.
While it has it’s moments of despicable behavior, Despicable Me is a sweet, heartwarming movie for the whole family.
The Bad: While the storyline is well written, I feel like Gru’s character transition could’ve been developed a little better. I know that’s a technical critique for a children’s movie, but it’s true. Also, Jemaine voiced Jerry the minion, and I still have no idea which one he was. That was disappointing for me.
My rating: 7.5/10
