This post marks the first milestone for The Impossible Poncho – my 100th post!
According to my notifications, 5 days ago was my 4 year anniversary on WordPress… so basically I’ve posted an average of 25 articles per year. (Slacker.)
In celebration of this monumentous occasion, let’s take a look back at my favorite and/or most popular entries:
My Top 30 Favorite TV Shows of All-Time
This is the post that started it all back on August 2, 2009. I was just a young pup delving into the world of “professional” blogging. Until that point my experience was limited to Myspace notes and my Xanga account. For my first run, it’s not too bad. However, now that I’ve looked at it, I’m itching to fix the formatting problems. You’re adorable, 2009 Rachael.
Today in Useless News series
The Facebook Fridays before Facebook Fridays… sort of. It had the same general concept, but the news wasn’t pulled from a social media feed. It appears that I was basically pulling it out of my head. Undoubtedly that explains why FF has been much more successful. On the downside, you won’t see screencaps of my sad attempts to internet flirt in FF. You’re welcome, James.
Monthly Best Films I Saw series
I actually dug this little segment and would like to bring it back with a few tweaks. Keep an eye open for that.
Top 100 TV Characters of All-Time series
This thread is perhaps the biggest success and failure of this blog. Over the life of The Poncho, this series has gotten more views than any other I’ve written. It was a huge undertaking that I failed to complete. I still get comments from readers asking me when I’m going to finish it and I have vowed to do so. It’s taking a little longer than I’d like considering there are always new shows with new characters, which means this list is constantly changing. Considering it’s been three years since I delved into it, I’m fairly certain at least 15 of the characters I’ve already written about will get the boot. Bear with me and cross your fingers that I can get through it by the end of the year!
10 Commandments for Thunder Fans
In the Oklahoma metro, this post took on an interesting life of it’s own. A friend of mine posted the link for it in the comments on Daily Thunder – the CBS blog for the OKC Thunder. The next morning DT author, Royce, featured the story in his Daily Bolts. After that, I heard it discussed on the afternoon drive show on one of my former radio stations. Of all my posts, this is the one I’m the most proud of. Every time I read it I still want to give myself a slow clap.
Top 10 TV Dudes I’d Marry
One night as I was watching a rerun of The Office, I thought to myself, “I’d totally marry Jim Halpert.” From that fleeting thought came this list, which was somehow selected as Freshly Pressed on WordPress. I have no idea why it tickled their fancy, but their endorsement of it got me 7,138 views in one day, 258 comments and dozens of subscribers. I think it’s safe to say that even with another 100 posts, nothing will rival the success of these lovable TV dudes.
